Bristol firm donates chairs to school and play group

AN ONLINE furniture store has donated 36 chairs worth over £500 to Slimbridge School and Little Otters play group.

Rainbow Zebra donated Titan chairs - which help prevent children from tilting backwards and also supports their posture.

The move came after Jo Nelmes, a sales executive at Rainbow Zebra and mum to two pupils at the school, learned of shortages in the classroom.

Jo, who is a member of Friends Of Slimbridge School (FOSS) committee, which organises events and fundraises for the school, said: “The chairs the children had been sitting on were tatty.

“The school has hardly any budget for furniture, so we decided to help out. The children sit for long periods of time, so it’s important chairs are comfortable, safe and long-lasting.

"When we were asked if we could help, the team at Rainbow Zebra jumped at the chance."

“The Titan chairs, which also have an anti-bacterial option, are made from one mould so tend to be sturdier. They also prevent the children from tilting back, making them a safer option.”

Larger grey chairs were given to Year Five and Six classes, whiler smaller, blue chairs were given to the Little Otters play group.

Head teacher Alison Cooke said they were grateful, adding: “The children love the chairs and say they are much more comfortable.”

Rainbow Zebra owner Paul Randall added: “With their budgets being cut, it’s harder and harder for head teachers to stretch their finances to benefit all their students.

“When we were asked if we could help, the team at Rainbow Zebra jumped at the chance.”
