Soundwell nursery celebrates 10th birthday

Soundwell nursery celebrates 10th birthday

A Soundwell day nursery has celebrated its 10th anniversary with a special party for staff, children and their families.

The Mama Bear’s Day Nursery and Pre-School on Pembroke Road was opened in July 2009, by husband and wife team Tony and Bev Driffield, who arranged a special tea party at the setting to celebrate the occasion.

Children were also delighted to receive a visit from Mama Bear herself, when she showed up to play games and pose for photos.

The Soundwell nursery has seen exciting expansion and development over the past 10 years and now cares for 140 children aged from three months to five years.

Having undergone a £200,000 extension in 2013, the purpose-built nursery has three separate age-specific rooms – the Baby room for under-twos, the Bouncy room for two-year-olds and the Pre-School room for children aged three to five.

Mama Bear’s Co-Owner and Early Years Specialist Bev Driffield said: “We are so pleased to be marking the tenth anniversary of our Soundwell nursery and what better way to celebrate than with a special Mama Bear’s party.

“It’s amazing to think back to 2009 when we first took over this nursery. We only opened our very first Mama Bear’s in Brislington in 2004 so Soundwell was one of the first few we added to our group. We now have 23 settings in Bristol, Somerset and Devon and we run them all with the same home-from-home approach which focusses on getting children ready for the next big step up to primary school.

“Both Tony and I are so passionate about the service we provide to families so it’s amazing to have reached this milestone. I’d like to say a huge thanks to all the families who have supported us over the years and especially to our wonderful staff who provide the outstanding care that we have become known for.”

The nursery has limited spaces available for its Pre-School room. There are spaces available in the baby room and in the two-year old room however, and parents may even be eligible for government funding.

Mama Bear’s Soundwell Nursery Manager, Emma Plucknett, said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating our 10-year anniversary and we hope all our children and their families had a great time at the party.

“Our team here is very close-knit, myself and several others have been here since the very beginning 10 years ago, and most of the other staff have been here at least six or seven years. It really feels like a family and it’s wonderful to celebrate our success together.

“We put a massive focus on the quality of care we provide at Mama Bear’s and it is this commitment to quality that has attracted parents looking for the best childcare options for their children for the last 10 years.”

Mama Bear’s Day Nursery is a family-run business with settings across Bristol, Somerset and Devon. The day nurseries are aimed at providing children with their first vital level of education to give them a head-start when they start at primary school.
