A Whiteladies Road nursery is launching a new flexible childcare scheme aimed at helping busy working parents arrange childcare more easily.
The Mama Bear’s Day Nursery and Pre-School on Whiteladies Road has introduced ‘Flexi-Care’ as an extension to the normal booking pattern, meaning parents can mix and match the sessions they choose depending on what they need.
The new booking arrangement is aimed at flexible workers and freelancers whose working patterns may change throughout the month and it means that parents only need to pay for the care they need.
Mama Bear’s co-owner Tony Driffield said: “Usually parents book set days or sessions for their child to attend nursery but our Flexi-Care scheme means that one week they can send their child to us on a Monday and Wednesday and the following week on a Tuesday and Thursday.
“It’s really tough for parents to balance work and childcare sometimes and this will hopefully make things a little bit easier, particularly because many industries are moving towards more flexible working patterns and there are many more freelance workers around.
“Parents will also be able to use their Free Entitlement hours and Tax-Free Childcare Vouchers with Flexi-Care.
“Our Whiteladies Road nursery is close to hospitals, the university, the BBC building and many other organisations where workers may need this service so we’re hoping it is received well.
“The other great benefit is that parents will only pay for the care that they need making it much more cost-effective. We can also see it working for stay-at-home mums and parents who only want to place their child in nursery every now and again as there are no minimum sessions per week.”
The nursery can be found on the corner of Whiteladies Road and Apsley Road and caters for children aged three months to five years.
The nursery was completely redesigned to be open, light and child friendly, whilst retaining original features and character from its former life as an auction house.
With separate rooms for babies, toddlers and pre-school children the nursery also boasts a fully secure outdoor play area and a drop-off zone in the adjoining car park. Children get free meals and snacks and benefit from the home-from-home environment Mama Bear’s is known for.
It is in a convenient location for working parents on a main route in and out of the city centre and the extended opening hours from 7.00am – 7.00pm have been designed to fit around the working day. The nursery also offers half day sessions and funded places.
Tony continued: “Spaces for Flexi-Care are limited so if you’re interested in registering your child for September we’d encourage you to enquire now. Those who register before 31 August 2019 will save £50 by getting a free registration.”
Mama Bear’s Day Nursery and Pre-School was awarded a ‘good’ rating in the latest Ofsted inspection. A family-run childcare organisation, Mama Bear’s aims to provide children with their first vital level of education to give them a head-start when they start at primary school.
